What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical /Fixed Equipment Engineer position at Kent?
Kent is looking for an Engineer – Mechanical Fixed Equipment to be based in the Baytown, TX office.
You will interact with other disciplines and groups, corporate technical networks and peers, and vendors/suppliers as needed to successfully implement and start up new equipment installations and revamps.
Skills and Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering deliverables that provide sufficient definition so that Mechanical can execute scope of work (IFC packages, M-specs, repair plans, etc.)
- Prepare and present technical reports for clients
- Provide detailed engineering analysis as needed (Level 1 and 2 FFS, piping/vessel t-min calculations, etc.)
- Serve as the respective client engineer providing engineering QA/QC surveillance on third party engineering packages –adherence to client standards, industry standards and codes, job specifications, etc.
- Provide field verification and support for mechanical execution as needed
- Work closely with client business team and engineering organization to understand priorities of work.
- Support overflow project design basis and engineering reviews –detailed drawing and calculation reviews

These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Qualification/ Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required.
- 5 years of direct experience in oil/gas industry in fixed (static) equipment.
- Able and willing to work on site at the ExxonMobil Baytown Refinery.
Skills Requirement:
- Knowledgeable of applicable codes and standards (ASME Sec VIII, B31.3, API 510/570/574/579).
- Familiar with fixed equipment design software (Caesar II, PV Elite, Plant Manager/Sage ).
- Ability to coordinate with other groups to complete work and ensure progress on deliverables.
- Able to adapt to tight deadlines and changes in priorities.
Communication:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with other teams and management on work progress, barriers, priorities.

- Ability to be self-managed and achieve project objectives on a high volume of work.
