CLASS SUMMARY :
Responsible for routine inspections, assigned by leadership team, across the CVG Airport Authority airfield and facility projects and coordinates airfield closures. Support succeeding Inspector levels while developing inspection techniques, procedures, and record keeping best practices. Prepares FAA and CVG Airport Authority required reports and correspondence; reviewing technical portion of project specifications; coordinating maintenance of construction as-built drawings and documenting and recording quantities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.
- Reviews plans and specifications and sites for construction projects. Updates necessary stakeholders with overview of project, schedule changes, review specifications, and relay communication with contractors.
- Inspects, monitors and reports construction activities related to compliance with plans and specifications and applicable regulations. Measures and documents installed work.
- Reports violations of policies and procedures related to permits, dust control, erosion control, and other applicable site-specific construction requirements for each project.
- Maintains logs, records, record drawings (as-builts) and construction progress reports.
- Completes project daily reports on multiple jobs.
- Reports special construction issues and site conditions to leadership and coordinates directed solutions.
- Schedules and coordinates activities related to construction surveys, soil and material testing and other services or materials.
- Coordinates construction and inspection services in cooperation with contractors and other agencies. Follows project tracking methodology to ensure tracking consistency from project to project.
- Participates in construction project requirements definition and planning from a construction tracking perspective.
- Assists with creation and maintenance of spreadsheets, in accordance with departmental procedures, tracking costs against actual expenses for construction projects, file management, document control, and project closeout.
- Inspects work on airport construction projects ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and FAA requirements. Reports non-compliance per department procedures.
- Prepares and reviews construction reports and correspondence.
- Maintains a complete and updated file of facility and field record drawings, including as-built drawings of construction projects and tenant construction drawings.
- Provides technical evaluation of vendor bids and reviews vendor drawings.
- Builds relationships with contractors and external stakeholders to ensure project quality and completion.
- Verifies safe work practices are undertaken to support quality compliance and control.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE :
Associate's degree in civil engineering or a related field to the area of assignment or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Positions in this class typically require : standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Ability to work in inclement weather conditions; climb ladders; and walk fair distances off pavement on a daily basis.
Medium Work : exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
