ABOUT KENTON COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Kenton County Public Library serves everyone in our community by creating lifelong readers and learners and inspiring imagination through a wide variety of resources and services. We help people to connect to the online world, know their community past and present, and provide comfortable, welcoming, and safe places, both virtual and physical, to gather together or work alone.
The Latonia Branch, expected to open in May of 2025, will be the newest addition to the Kenton County Public Library system, located in the Latonia Commerce Center near Ritte's Corner. The 11,500 sq. ft. facility will feature a large meeting room, small study spaces, and dedicated areas for children, teens, and adults, alongside a robust collection of materials. This community-focused branch aims to provide educational resources and support to the densely populated neighborhood, which includes schools, senior living facilities, and businesses. The project aligns with the library's strategic goals to serve as an anchor institution and bring positive change to the community.
A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A LIBRARY ASSOCIATE
As a Library Associate, you love interacting with people and are able to make personal connections easily and ensure that every patron feels welcome. From small children to adults, you are able to easily assist with basic circulation, reference, and readers advisory at all service points. When our patrons have requests for information, assistance in using resources, locating materials, or equipment use, you are happy to assist them and ensure that they have a great experience. You shelve materials, process library card applications and inform new cardholders of basic library benefits and services.
You take charge of challenging opportunities as they arise and provide excellent customer service. Your positive, friendly disposition comes through in all your interactions and is one of the reasons our patrons love coming to our library. There are always a variety of tasks that you can help with, so you are never bored. You love being surrounded by books and enjoy interacting with people every day.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with the public
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to bend, kneel, and reach to retrieve library materials
- Ability to carry items weighing 20-30 lbs and push book trucks or bins weighing 100 lbs
A bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position with a 40-hour workweek. Schedule for this position varies, evenings and weekends required.
Entry level pay - $13.00/hour with excellent benefits.
This position is expected to begin in early March of 2025.
