With a start date of August 15, 2025, Kents Hill’s new French teacher will collaborate with World Language Department educators striving to instill a love and curiosity of the French language and Francophone culture while advancing the Kents Hill curriculum and their own teaching practices. Essential Functions The ideal candidate will be: passionate about sharing their love of the French language and cultures dedicated to student-centered inquiry and teaching for linguistic and cultural competence eager to contribute to the department’s ongoing development of its curriculum map rooted in knowledge, skills, character, and reflection willing to engage in a culture of collaboration and feedback committed to developing in all Kents Hill students the kinds of sophisticated problem-solving and critical-thinking strategies needed for success beyond secondary education authentically engage learners in problems that extend beyond the walls of the classroom culturally competent with skills for engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences an educator passionate about the pursuit of their own personal growth through professional development committed to the boarding school student experience and excited to engage with students both inside and outside of the classroom. Typically, this includes: Living in a campus residence and participating in all aspects of residential life Advising a group of students Involvement in coaching afternoon athletics and/or leading extracurricular activities Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: experience teaching French from the introductory level through AP French Language and Culture native or near-native fluency in French multilingual teaching experience, though not required, preference to Spanish and/or Mandarin languages excellent written and verbal communication skills the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues How to Apply Please send a letter of interest, resume, and contact information for three references to teachingapplications@kentshill.org with the subject line “French Teacher”.
