Position Summary:
As a Project Engineer, you'll take the lead on technical and operational aspects of quarry projects-from planning and design through to construction and ongoing operations. You'll ensure projects are delivered safely on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety: Demonstrate commitment to promote a culture where safety and risk are part of the first consideration of every decision and all people are responsible for the safety of the team. Support company safety initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
- Project Planning & Design: Develop project plans, technical designs, and specifications.
- Construction & Operations Oversight: Manage all phases of project implementation, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
- Technical Leadership: Apply quarrying and mining expertise to drive efficient, optimized operations.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Resource Management: Coordinate labor, equipment, and material usage.
- Problem Solving: Address technical challenges and operational issues as they arise.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records, specs, and reports; communicate project status to stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work closely with geologists, engineers, and other internal teams.
- Site Assessment: Conduct geological studies and evaluate project viability.
- Environmental Management: Develop and implement strategies to mitigate environmental impact.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor and manage budgets, ensuring cost efficiency.
- Quality Control: Uphold rigorous quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Equipment Oversight: Ensure heavy equipment and vehicles are maintained and operated effectively.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and train workers in equipment use and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Mining or Civil engineering preferred.
- Ability to connect with and care for team members and their safety and concerns.
- Proven experience in quarry or mining project engineering is a plus.
- Recent graduates without experience are encouraged to apply as well as persons with quarry or mining experience.
- Strong understanding of regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
- Ability to lead, problem-solve, and make data-informed decisions in dynamic environments.
