This interim position performs beginning level technical work in the fisheries department as the creel clerk for the Western Fisheries District. Join us in the exciting, innovative, and rewarding environment of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR)!
This is an interim position. An interim position means a position is established to address a one-time or recurring need of less than (9) months duration and exempt from the classified service under KRS 18A.115. Our Fish and Wildlife Technician I’s are eligible for paid leave, paid holidays, and employee discounts.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong work ethic, work well individually and with a team, be a self- starter as well as be adaptable and flexible.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Independently interviews anglers to collect catch and harvest data.
- Independently interviews anglers to collect opinions and attitudes on sport fisheries at regional lakes and waterways.
- Independently records data through use of an Ipad. Compiles data as directed.
- Frequent evening, night, and weekend work is required
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in fisheries or wildlife management will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license for the length of employment
Working Conditions
A majority of time may be spent working outside in inclement weather. Will be exposed to insects, snakes, and other harmful animals. Employees in this class will be required to operate various types of equipment used for general building maintenance and lawn maintenance. Incumbent must be able to bend, stoop, climb, crawl, and walk.
