What are the responsibilities and job description for the Props Artisan position at Kentucky Opera?
The Props Artisan will help with the construction, load-in, and strike of prop pieces for productions. Candidates will need to help with sourcing, fabricating, altering, an/or repairing props for a production and aid in maintaining the organization of our production warehouse. Individuals may be asked to help with packaging and the transportation of props between locations. An ideal candidate would possess basic skills, or willing to learn skills in carpentry, craft work, sewing, research, and computer graphics. Experience with metal working, molding, casting, electronics, painting, furniture construction, and upholstery is a bonus, along with a valid driver’s license. Props Artisans may be required to lift large objects weighing up to 50lbs either alone or with a team.
