Description
The Department of Professional Licensing serves 25 professional licensing boards and registries for theCommonwealth, serving 27,000 licensees. We offer an exciting, fast-paced environment with the opportunity towork independently, but also as a team member with co-workers and professional board members.
The Department provides oversight for 25 of the state's occupational licensing boards, as well as providesadministrative and fiscal management, technical support, and advice to the licensing boards. This sectionwithin the Department focuses on providing the administrative duties to the boards.
This position is responsible for the following duties :
- Organization of board documents.
- Interpreting laws and regulations to assist applicants and the public.
- Evaluating application compliance and completion.
- Processing applications and renewals.
- Writing complex and technical correspondence.
- Maintaining a computer database of all licensees and credential holders.
- Receiving and managing formal complaints, complaint responses, and board actions.
- Performing other administrative duties as necessary.
- Operating a licensing system, run reports, and interpret information to the Board and management.
- Organizing board meeting materials, attending meetings, and drafting meeting minutes.
- Handling legal issues arising from public complaints while effectively communicating with the board, legal personnel, the licensee, and the public.
- Maintaining information on each board website, including application forms, board meeting dates, continuing education requirements, and meeting minutes.
The ideal candidate will need to be self-motivated and possess the ability to communicate by phone, email, andin person with licensees, the public, board members, and legal staff.This position requires strong analytical and comprehensive skills, earned from both education and professionalexperiences, in order to interpret statutes and regulations for the board, public, and licensees.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION : Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS : Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE : Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION : Additional administrative, business, research, and / or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.) : NONE
Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
