Description
Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a 285-bed long-term care facility that has served more than 2,782 Veteransfrom all branches of the armed forces since admitting the first resident on August 25, 1991. Thomson-Hood isthe largest facility operated by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs.We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic Patient Aide I who possesses the desire to care for Kentucky'sVeterans.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Make beds, pass ice and snacks, transports residents, escorts residents to and from medical appointments,pass towels and washcloths. Train to assist with Feeding and tray set up in dining room.
- Learn the dietary needs of the residents to prepare tickets for meals.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Preform the cleaning of the ice machines, wheelchairs, and refrigerator.
- Assist with the resident laundry, stock gloves and other resident supplies as needed in the residentrooms.

Working Conditions
Normal working conditions within a health care facility. These facilities may include persons with abnormal behaviors and / or contagious diseases. Frequent exposures to blood and body fluids inherent in an institutional setting which requires the following of safety procedures.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 9 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
