TITLE: Adjunct History

REPORTS TO: Chair, School of Behavioral and Social Sciences
EFFECTIVE DATE: TBD
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time
EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Adjunct Instructor or Adjunct Professor (non-tenure track) in History, with a minimum qualification of a Master’s Degree (18 credit hours in a History content area) in the field from an accredited institution, and commitment to teaching in a Historical Black College and University (HBCU) undergraduate liberal arts college with specialization in African American History preferred.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Teaching History Program courses as defined by the Faculty Handbook.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Duties include but not limited to: teach 1-2 introductory general education course in African American History, plus upper level courses in History, in various formats including face to face, hybrid and online modes.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants must submit a letter of application including graduate transcript(s), curriculum vitae, and three current letters of recommendation indicating teaching philosophy and adaptability to course modalities. Applicants will be accepted immediately until the position is filled.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Master Degree in History
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position requires working in an office and/or classroom setting.
