Resident Director
Kentucky Wesleyan College, a private, liberal arts college with a long-standing reputation for
quality and academic excellence, invites applications for a part-time Resident Director to live in
a residence hall on campus, while assisting students in developing a positive living-learning
community.
Major Responsibilities
- Participate in the selection and supervision of student staff within assigned areas.
- Serve as a positive role model for students and staff.
- Maintain a high level of visibility in the residence hall and be accessible to students.
- Participate in in-service training, attend resident director meetings, and hold monthly
meetings for student staff in the residence hall.
- Identify issues of concern and keep the Student Life Office informed.
- Check mailbox and email multiple times daily.
- Track programming in the building for residents.
- Assist with summer camps where needed and available.
- Serve as liaison with all aspects of the campus related to resident needs.
- Serve as part of rotating on-call staff (2 weeks on and 2 weeks off scheduling).
- Assist with other responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Knowledge of a residential experience at a college or university
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Preferred qualifications include interest in the development of college students and their
environments and/or enrollment in a graduate program in student affairs, counseling, or a
related program.
- The Resident Director must live in the assigned residence hall as his/her primary
Compensation
Compensation will take the form of a campus apartment with paid utilities, free internet, free
laundry facilities, reserved parking on campus, and a full meal plan when the College is in
session and the dining hall is open.
