What are the responsibilities and job description for the Refinish Technician Helper position at Kenwood Autobody?
Summary
Helps refinishes damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership quality specifications and time standards.
Essential Duties
- Work closely with our experienced technicians and mechanics to assist in various repair tasks. This includes preparing surfaces, sanding, taping, and masking vehicles prior to painting.
- Provide support by mixing paint, preparing spray equipment, and applying primer and apply paint to vehicles. To assist painters in the collision repair facility, the helper will provide coating materials to exterior painting and match paint colors.
- Utilize various tools and equipment such as spray guns, painting equipment, power tools, masking tape, basic hand tools, wire brushes and more on the job site.
- Assist in documenting repairs and maintaining detailed records for each vehicle in a timely manner.
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
- Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
- Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
- Other tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- I-CAR Certification desirable not required.
