Job Summary
This position involves various cellar operations, including pump overs, punch downs, racking, clarifying, and blending of juice and wine. The successful candidate will maintain a clean and sanitary environment, handling equipment and performing tasks as needed to meet operational demands.
Main Responsibilities:
- General cleaning and sanitation of winery and equipment.
- Transfers, flotation, and racking of juice from tank to tank.
- Setup and monitoring of pump-overs in a quality and time-efficient manner.
- Removing pomace from tanks and presses.
- Accurate completion of work orders and tracking documentation.
Requirements:
- Experience with at least one harvest.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for written work orders.
Desirable Skills:
- Accurate measurement, preparation, and addition of ingredients to juice, must, and wine.
- Recognition and reporting of off aromas in tanks.
- Operation of mechanical mixers.
Physical Demands:
- Working conditions may be cold, hot, wet, slippery, or noisy.
- Flexible hours, including weekends and long hours during grape harvest.
- Handling hazardous materials, frequent walking, and physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds.
