The Kenyon Inn and Restaurant is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Bookkeeper. As the Bookkeeper at the Kenyon Inn and Restaurant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless operation of the inn and restaurant. The bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing cash flow, tracking expenses and revenue, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations for both hotel and restaurant operations. You will also prepare financial reports, handle payroll, and may be involved in budgeting and forecasting.
This is a part-time position requiring approximately 20 hours per week. The hours worked are flexible, but will generally be on weekdays between 8:00am and 4:00pm. Pay for this position is $20/hour.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Keeping: Accurately recording all financial transactions, including sales, expenses, and inventory.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Managing vendor invoices, processing payments, and tracking guest accounts.
- Payroll Processing: Prepare and review time card, tip, and time-off reports.
- Tax Compliance: Ensuring sales taxes, and hotel taxes are properly applied and tracked.
- Expense Tracking: Monitoring and reporting expenses to ensure profitability.
- Inventory Management: Tracking inventory levels, costs, and usage.
- Software Proficiency: Utilizing accounting software and technology to manage financial data; experience and proficiency with Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Work closely with Managers, hotel and restaurant staff, and the Kenyon College accounting department to ensure accurate reporting.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with bookkeeping software and technology.
- Proficiency in data entry and record keeping.
- Ability to work independently and accurately.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competence with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace suite of applications.
