Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Shop Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge, experience with hand tools, power tools and basic building and grounds maintenance. This role is essential in supporting equipment repair and maintenance while ensuring that operations run smoothly throughout our facility.
Duties
- Pick up parts and supplies from area businesses for repairs and maintenance.
- Deliver equipment, tools or supplies to field job sites as needed.
- Assist mechanic as needed on repair and preventative maintenance projects.
- Maintain a clean and organized shop to promote efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate with team members to meet goals and deadlines.
- Perform general building maintenance and repairs.
- Utilize forklifts for moving materials as needed.
- Perform yard maintenance including but not limited to mowing and snow removal.
Qualifications
- Clean driver's license is required. CDL A or B is preferred but not required.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and general construction knowledge.
- Ability to work effectively in a mechanical shop setting, adhering to safety protocols.
- Experience operating forklifts is a plus but not mandatory (training and certification will be provided to the right candidate).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
- A proactive attitude towards learning new skills and processes related to shop operations.
