We are seeking an experienced Operations/Construction Manager [ located in the Central Illinois area] to lead and optimize our construction operations. This role will oversee project execution, workforce management, safety compliance, and operational efficiency across multiple commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial construction with self-performing work, ensuring seamless coordination between teams, adherence to project timelines, and quality standards.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP:
- Oversee construction operations across the Central Illinois region, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and within budget.
PROJECT OVERSIGHT:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field staff.
SELF-PERFORMING WORK:
- Directly manage and optimize self-performed trades, ensuring productivity, resource allocation, and cost control.
WORKFORCE MANAGEMENT:
- Supervise and mentor construction teams.
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT:
- Identify and implement best practices to enhance project delivery and streamline operations.
BUDGET & COST CONTROL:
- Monitor project budgets, labor costs, and material expenses to ensure financial targets are met.
CLIENT & STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS:
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION:
- Leverage construction technology and software (such as Procore, Bluebeam, or equivalent) to enhance project management and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience (7 years) in commercial construction operations, preferably in a General Contractor or Construction Management environment.
- Strong background in self-performing work, with expertise in concrete, carpentry, demolition, or other key trades.
- Leadership experience managing field teams, superintendents, and subcontractors.
- Deep understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, and project management.
- Proficiency in construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.
Salary : $80,000 - $95,000
