Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead and grow our well-rounded and active band program. The successful candidate will work closely with a highly collaborative team of educators to inspire and challenge students to reach their full musical potential.
Responsibilities Include:
*Marching Band: Direct a competitive marching band, including planning field shows, parades, and community performances.
*Concert Band: Plan and direct engaging performances, including seasonal concerts and festivals.
*Jazz Band: Facilitate jazz ensembles, rehearsals, and performances at school and community events.
*Small Ensembles: Organize and coach chamber groups for contests and special performances.
*Individual Lessons: Provide personalized instruction to students to improve their technical skills and musicianship.
*Student Development: Inspire and mentor students to develop their musical talents, leadership skills, and teamwork abilities.
*Collaboration: Work closely with the music department, administration, and community stakeholders to promote and enhance the program.
*Program Growth: Recruit and retain students in the band program, fostering a culture of enthusiasm for music education.
*Community Engagement: Represent the band program in the community and participate in district events to strengthen community relationships.
Qualifications:
*Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field
*Valid Iowa Teaching License (or eligibility to obtain one)
*Experience or strong interest in leading all aspects of a comprehensive band program
*Effective communication and organizational skills
*Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all students
