Skills:
- Must be able to communicate successfully with a variety of disciplines and levels, both internal and external staff.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written skills.
- Basic computer and networking skills
- Must pass exam for communication electronic technician.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Electronic background preferred
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of electronics communications experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience with electronic testing equipment (multimeters, Loop testers, LAN Testers, Etc.)
- Previous Railroad Experience Preferred
Key Accountabilities:
- Installs, adds, moves, changes, General Maintenance and troubleshooting of below but not limited to:
- Mitel Physical/Virtual/Cloud base PBX System, Programming, Telephones POTS/VOIP
- Digital Carrier (T1, T3, ETC)
- Network (cell/wireless/wired/microwave ECT)
- CCTV (analog, IP)(Wave/Genetec)
- Alarm Systems
- Door Access Systems (Lenel Systems)
- Communication Cabling (coaxial, fiber, cat5, cat6, serial (RS232/RS485)
- Fiber Optic (singlemode/multimode , Fusion splicing)
- LED Sign System
- Qualifications and Physical Requirements
- Possess Valid Driver’s license
- Knowledge of hand and power tools
- Climbing ladders and stairs
- Standing for long durations
- Walking long distances over flat and uneven surfaces
- Ability to push/pull/ lift over 50lbs
- Working in all inclement weather
- Digging (ditches/trenches)
- Maintenance, repair, and installation of communications PTC related components
- Wayside and Onboard Radios
- Cienna Switches
- Fiber Optics
- Associated Cabling
Additional Statements:
- Drug and alcohol screening: Employment contingent upon passing pre-employment drug and alcohol screen. Also, contingent upon receiving a favorable background check. Must pass a physical examination.
