Minimum Knowledge and Experience:
• Comprehensive understanding of operating rules, practices, and procedures for railroad operations and train dispatching.
• Qualified train dispatcher or ability to achieve train dispatcher qualification.
• At least 5 years of experience in railroad operations, including applying operating and safety rules and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.
• Experience in developing, maintaining, and delivering training programs is preferred.
Skills:
• Strong presentation and communication skills for engaging with individuals at all organizational levels.
• Proven leadership and organizational abilities to manage tasks and teams effectively.
• Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across diverse roles and disciplines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Key Accountabilities:
• Demonstrates understanding and adheres to the KCS principles of Employee Engagement, Operational Excellence, Safety & Security, and Economic Performance.
• Lead compliance efforts, ensuring staff are qualified and confident in delivering safe operations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain FRA-compliant training programs for operations.
• Plan and deliver classroom, field, and on-the-job training in a 24/7 environment.
• Conduct operational tests and inspections to ensure compliance, providing coaching as needed.
• Support the implementation of the train dispatcher certification program.
• Manage training and certification records.
• Collaborate with departments and stakeholders to ensure consistent training delivery.
• Maintain effective relationships with MBTA counterparts, regulators, and other railroads to share best practices.
• Participate in daily operations and provide on-call support for 24/7 activities.
• Investigate incidents and assist with corrective actions.
• Complete all assigned training programs.
