Minimum Knowledge and Experience :
Associate's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience with design and construction of electrical systems, and in planning and coordination of electrical construction projects related to rail transit systems.Knowledge of Department of Transportation & Federal Railroad Administration rules and regulations preferredMaster Electrician’s License preferredTrade school certifications, college degree, or equivalent work experience in Bridge and Building and / or construction preferredFive or more supervisory or practical experience in all aspects of electrical workExperience in the application of labor contractsSkills :
Communicates successfully with a variety of disciplines and levels, both internal and externalStrong interpersonal skills for training and coaching activitiesPossesses basic knowledge of MS Office, specifically Word and Excel, and the ability to learn other software applicationsMust have experience in the application of labor contractsKey Accountabilities (Essential Job Duties) :
Demonstrates understanding and adheres to the KCS principles of Employee Engagement, Operational Excellence, Safety & Security, and Economic PerformanceImplements and monitors operational practices to ensure equipment reliability and quality service while ensuring a safe and productive workplaceAnalyzes utilization of department workforce and facilities to continuously identify improvement in work practices and schedulingComplies with and ensures staff compliance with all safety rules and procedures and report all hazards as requiredSupervises and oversees construction of all assigned Electrical employees for compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Company rules and regulations, and Keolis / MBTA Contract AgreementsEnforces compliance with rules and regulations of electrical and high voltage systems as established by local and Federal regulationsAccountable for quality assurance of work performed by the Electrical Department employeesParticipates in MBTA / Keolis extra work planning meetingsCoordinates and inspects all of the contractors work to meet NEC and MBTA standardsAdministers collective bargaining agreements through regular job performanceCompletes other duties as assignedRequirements :
Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent educational credentialA valid driver’s license is required to successfully travel throughout the Commuter Rail network and locations as assignedQualifications in NORAC Operating Rules and Roadway Worker Protection (RWP)MA Journeyman Electrician’s LicenseAttends and participates in all assigned meetings and training, specifically safety and security relatedWorking Conditions (including Physical Demands) :
Covers special planned work, including some nights and weekendsResponds to emergency calls at all items in a 24 / 7 transportation environmentOffice work, plus regular visits to various field sitesWork involves walking, talking, hearing, climbing, driving and lifting (up to 50 pounds)Vision abilities required by this job include near and distant vision with the ability to adjust focus
