Bus Driver/Trainer

Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance and Operations or designee, to operate a school bus over designated routes within an established time schedule; to transport students to and from school and on field trips and/or special events; to perform daily inspections of a bus and other transportation equipment and prepare reports concerning maintenance needs; to assist in the planning, development, compilation, implementation, and maintenance of a variety of bus driver training programs/records, required for bus driver certification; and to do other related work as required. Experience : Two (2) years of driving experience as a school bus driver and three years of experience operating vehicles requiring a Class A or B commercial driver license; Two (2) years experience as a certified trainer of school bus drivers, preferred. Education : school diploma or equivalent; supplemented by training or coursework in bus driver safety and training programs License and Certificate Requirements: Possession of a valid Class A or B, California driver license with appropriate endorsements; Possession of a California School Bus Driver’s Certificate; Completion of a certified California Department of Education driver instructor course; Standard First Aid Certificate. Applicants must have held a valid driver’s license for the past three consecutive years, to date, with no chargeable accidents within that time; Any moving traffic citation during the past special ten years will be evaluated and may be considered disqualifying; Applicants may be required to possess a valid unrestricted California driver license and an unrestricted California Type I School Bus Driver Certificate; Must pass State Skills Test and State Written Test Must meet minimum physical requirements as prescribed by the California Department of Motor Vehicles Insurance Requirement : Must be able to be insured and continue to be insurable by the District liability insurance carrier.
