KeRi Engineering, an MEP consulting engineering firm, listed as NJ’s 50 Fastest growing firms in NJ, is seeking a Senior HVAC Design Engineer with a minimum 8-10 years of experience, for a challenging opportunity in the construction industry. KeRi is a full-service MEP firm specializing in the design of Commercial, Educational, Pharmaceutical, Mission Critical, Commercial, and Retail facilities.
Responsibilities and Duties
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience in the design of Mechanical building systems and energy conservation projects.
- The Engineer shall be expected to perform site surveys/visits to verify existing conditions,
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations, and have a thorough understanding of various HVAC system concepts, and equipment selection.
- Design HVAC systems including all associated equipment, ductwork, piping, and specifications. Support engineering efforts for design of mechanical systems for new installations, system retrofits, system replacement, and system upgrades for a wide variety of projects and project types.
- Develop design narratives and construction documents including design drawings in Autocad or Revit and project specifications.
- Have thorough knowledge and experience with writing/editing specifications
- Mechanical systems design may include HVAC, boilers, chillers for labs, offices, schools, and industrial facilities, and survey a wide variety of facilities and processes for determining as-built conditions.
- Shall have knowledge of local building codes.
- Ability to work in close coordination with the entire design team including other trades, architects, structural and site engineers.
- Assist with construction administration services including reviewing RFIs, and submittals, reviewing shop drawings, attending meetings with contractors, owners, or other consultants, responding to contractor questions, and writing reports.
- The engineer shall participate as an active member of a project team and be able to work independently; and demonstrate interpersonal/ communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, report writing, and oral communication skills; working experience with AutoCAD; Autodesk Revit a plus.
Must take ownership of the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of the work assigned. Individuals in this position must demonstrate the ability to work independently on small projects and progress to designing of more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team.
Qualifications and Skills
Additional requirements include:
- BS/MS with a minimum 8 years of experience from an Accredited Institution
- Good analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of NYC and NYS building codes.
- Experience with municipalities, and government agencies such as DASNY, CUNY, OGS, and other NYS Agencies is desired.
- Current EIT registration is a must
- Professional Engineer License, a plus
- LEED AP, a plus
- AutoCAD experience
- REVIT experience a plus
- Demonstrates an ability to understand the work of other trades - Plumbing, Electrical, and Fire Protection
- Proficient in design and calculation software
