However, if successful, they will not be eligible for certification until they have met the full experience requirement.Examination Schedule : Written Exam : will be notified at least five days prior to the examinationWritten Exam (Weight 100%) : May include knowledge of modern fire prevention and suppression methods; technical fire-fighting techniques and principles of hydraulics applied to fire suppression; the use and maintenance of fire-fighting equipment and apparatus; departmental rules and regulations; first aid and other relevant topics.Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.Examination components for promotional testing will be administered during the scheduled date(s) / time(s) / location without exception.Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards : Two years of experience as a Fire Fighter or Fire Heavy Equipment Specialist II in the Kern County Fire Department AND California State Certified Fire Marshall (CSFM) Driver Operator 1A and 1B certificates, AND successful completion of a Kern County Fire Department practical certification exam are required. Experience as a Wildland Firefighter may be substituted for an equivalent amount of Fire Fighter experience; not to exceed one (1) year.Possession of a valid California Class C non-commercial Firefighter's Restricted Driver's License with specific endorsements is required.By assignment may be required to possess a valid California Class A or B Commercial License with specific endorsements.Applicants must submit a copy of the following documents to their application by the final filing deadline.
