What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Occupational Therapist position at Kern County Superintendent of Schools?
Under the direction of the Director in the Special Education division, provides for an educationally related occupational therapy assessment, which includes student observation, records review, interview, standardized and non-standardized testing in areas of suspected disability. Develops and implements long-term and short-term goals and objectives for the Individualized Education Program (IEP). Develops and implements training opportunities and in-services for educational staff and parents. This is an itinerant position based in Bakersfield, CA. Education and Credentials:
• Possess certification as Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR) by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
• Sensory-integration certification desirable.
• Possess or secure within six (6) months of employment a certificate for first aid and CPR issued by the American Red Cross or equivalent.
Experience:
• Minimum of two years or more experience in pediatrics, including practice in assessment and therapy skills appropriate for the needs of a varied student population.
Must possess a private vehicle, valid California driver’s license and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage.
Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
