What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crime Prevention Specialist - Shift position at Kern County?
Shift information: 5% additional pay for evening shift work; 7.5% additional pay for night shift work. Applicants must be able and willing to work any shift of a 24-hour period and any 5 of 7 days.
Written Exam (30%): May Include knowledge of the English language; standard office equipment; basic crime prevention theory; public relations principles and other relevant subjects.
*The Human Resources Division may limit the number advancing to the oral exam to approximately the TOP 15, based upon the final earned results of the written exam.
Oral Exam (70%): Will be conducted for the purpose of appraising training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position.

*If the number of applicants successful on the written exam is insufficient to merit an oral exam, the written exam shall be weighted 100%.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards:
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent and two years of public speaking and education or related law enforcement experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Appointees will be fingerprinted and required to pass a background investigation.
Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made at the Kern County Sheriff's Office. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
Appointees will be fingerprinted and required to pass a background investigation.
