Job Summary
Kern Delta Company, a potato, carrot, and sweet potato dehydration facility, is seeking a Facility Manager to oversee all aspects of plant operations. This hands-on leadership role requires direct engagement with employees on the production floor, as well as managing inbound and outbound shipments, equipment maintenance, and production efficiencies. The Facility Manager will be held to strict production guidelines, KPIs, and labor standards to ensure operational excellence and cost control.
Responsibilities
- Facility & Production Management: Oversee daily operations of two industrial dehydrators, two pellet mills, five tractors/trucks, and various potato conveyance equipment, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
- Performance & Accountability: Manage production to meet strict KPIs, labor efficiency standards, and quality benchmarks.
- Employee Leadership: Supervise and work directly with employees on the production floor, ensuring optimal workforce performance and compliance with labor standards.
- Logistics & Inventory: Manage inbound and outbound shipments, coordinating with suppliers, customers, and trucking operations.
- Equipment & Maintenance: Oversee and troubleshoot dehydrators, pellet mills, trucks, tractors, and conveyance equipment, ensuring preventive maintenance is performed.
- Process Optimization: Utilize feed milling expertise to improve dehydration processes, increase output, and reduce downtime.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce workplace safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and ensure a clean, organized facility.
- Data & Reporting: Maintain detailed production records, track efficiency metrics, and provide regular performance reports to ownership.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum five years of management or leadership experience in food processing, feed milling, or industrial production.
- Feed Milling Expertise: Prior experience in feed mill operations is required.
- Mechanical Knowledge: Strong ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial processing equipment.
- KPI & Labor Management: Experience tracking and improving KPIs, labor productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Logistics & Supply Chain: Experience managing shipments, inventory, and supplier coordination.
- Leadership & Problem-Solving: Strong ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and resolve operational challenges.
- Work Environment: Willingness to be hands-on and work directly with employees on the production floor.
Performance Expectations
- Facility Manager will be held accountable to strict production goals and labor efficiency standards.
- Monthly performance reviews will assess adherence to KPIs, production targets, and cost control measures.
- Continuous process improvement and optimization of dehydration and milling operations will be expected.
