Position : Employee Health & Wellness Program Nurse Coordinator - Mid-Management - Employee Health Services
Definition
Under the direction of the Chief Ambulatory and Outreach Officer and working within the license and scope of a Registered Nurse, collaborates with the Employee Health Physician and Infection Control Coordinator in order to conduct the surveillance, treatment and monitoring of the programs established to protect the employees and patients of Kern Medical from work related illness and injury and to implement programs to ensure workplace safety and employee wellness.
Essential Functions
Coordinates and oversees all phases of the occupational health clinical program for the Kern County Hospital Authority (KCHA).Develops KCHA wellness program to include employee engagement, activities, education and incentivized participation for a healthier workforceResponsible for providing employee health services including TB and other required screenings and vaccines within the prescribed timeframes.Collects data and conducts analyses to identify trends and patterns and recommends appropriate courses of action.Reports on results to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.Oversees the pre-employment and annual clearances of all health and safety screenings, to include physicals, drug screens and laboratory.Works with Quality and Infection Control departments to coordinate plans and services for employees as prescribed by the various regulatory requirements.Under the clinical direction of the Employee Health Physician and within the scope of the registered nurse, carries out physician ordered care plans related to the employee health and wellness for employees.Coordinates with KCHA's Risk Department to ensure timely processing of reports to minimize time lost time on employee injuries and illness.Provides initial assessment and treatment for industrial injury / illness in accordance with established standards.Conducts ongoing safety program which is based upon results of analysis and in compliance with external regulations.Coordinates follow-up of employee exposures to communicable diseases and carries out necessary treatment plans.Counsels employees with health conditions which may interfere with job performance and makes applicable referrals as indicated.Develops policies and procedures required in accordance with all applicable laws and regulatory statutes.Reviews all reports of industrial injury / illness according to established procedures.Assists in preparation and management of the departmental budget.Assesses and attests to clinical competence of staff deemed appropriate and competent to administer vaccines and mask fit testing as well as other clinical elements of licensed and non-licensed subordinates.Employment Standards
Clear and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.Five (5) years of full time nursing experience in an acute care setting with at least two (2) years of Employee Health and Wellness or Worker's Compensation experience.Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) and Certification in Ergonomics preferred.Certification in an appropriate nursing specialty OR a Master's degree in nursing may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.Employee must maintain all health requirements designated by Kern Medical.Possess and maintain a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basis Life Support (BLS).Knowledge of :
Occupational Health and Safety, Ergonomics, Worker's Compensation and OSHA; modern nursing principles, methods and procedures;Ability to :
Identify health and safety hazards to employees at Kern Medical and outlying campuses, developing recommendations for alleviating such hazards; gather and analyze real time data and trends; analyze applicable regulations to determine their effect on employee health and wellness programs; communicate effectively both orally and in writing as well as maintain and promote effective and positive working relationships with hospital employees and community members.
