Radiologic Technologist - Per Diem

Definition:
Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures as prescribed by Physicians under the direction of a qualified Physician
Essential Functions:
Adheres to mission, vision, values, goals, philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of the Center
- Demonstrates proper operation of all imaging equipment
- Is familiar with and demonstrates application of all radiology procedures
- Routinely follows specified procedures relating to the use and injection of contrast material
- Correctly identifies patient and assures that exam is performed as ordered
- Assures patient identity for all patients
- Routinely employs proper procedure in all areas of patient imaging including immobilization, positioning, exposure factors and shielding
- Assists Physician with imaging procedures as assigned or required
- Completely evaluates radiographs for standards of technical quality, assuring that all films are properly marked left, right, supine, upright, portable stickers with all hours recorded in military time, and number of film with doing in sequence
- Obtains all necessary clinical information to assist Physician with diagnosis
- Participates in Center’s Quality Management and Improvement programs as required
- Forwards compiled data to appropriate personnel within the prescribed time frame
- Maintains a clean, safe, and well-stocked working area
- Evaluates equipment and reports any malfunctions to Director of Nursing
- Initiates appropriate follow up to patients experiencing extended waiting times
- Meets all patient contacts in an efficient and courteous manner
- Displays conscientious precautions to self regarding safety hazards such as lifting of supplies, patient transfers and radiation protection
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required
- Assists in reception area or file room as assigned or required
- May be cross-trained to cover or assist in other technical areas of the department as assigned or required
- Demonstrates a professional attitude and maintains high work standards
- Maintains high quality of work including thorough completion and few errors
- Consistently completes assigned work before end of shift
- Displays obvious initiative in assisting new responsibilities and in association with hospital and departmental changes
- Consistently maintains a professional demeanor
- Exemplifies a pleasant and cooperative attitude with co-workers. Strives to create and maintain a good working relationship with all employees

- All staff, including supervisors and managers, are responsible for:
- Protecting the center’s hardware, software, information, and data by complying with its security/privacy policies and procedures and correctly using security technologies.
- Attending required security/privacy training.
- Using computer terminals and workstations in a manner that protects the security of information they access.
- Reporting all security/privacy breaches to their supervisors, or to the Privacy Officer when their supervisors are unavailable.
- Maintaining the confidentiality of their password.
Employment Standards:
- Current CPR
- High School Diploma
- Certification as radiological technologist from an accredited program
