Position: Senior Food Service Worker - Part-Time - Nutrition - Temporary
Definition:
Under direction maintains patient diets. The Catering Associate will assist in obtaining patient preferences, managing flow of tray line, tray delivery, and diet order maintenance
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This is the “specialty diets” experienced level classification in the Food Service Worker series. This classification works under the direction of the Food Service Director in the operation and maintenance of an institution kitchen, overseeing tray line set up and maintenance of patient dietary orders.
Essential Functions:
In accordance with established policies and procedures and in accordance with federal, state, regulatory requirements and hospital health and safety regulations:
- Maintains patient diet orders in Kardex;
- Updates and maintains high risk food trays;
- Maintains and oversees tray line for flow and set-up;
- Supports Food Service Workers;
- Audits Units Kitchen;
- Reviews floor stock;
- Prepares snack prep and delivery.
Other Functions:
- Maintains Food Service Worker cleaning logs;
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Employment Standards:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred;
- Two (2) years of experience performing similar or equivalent tasks;
- Possession and maintenance of a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support card. Incumbents not possessing the Basic Life Support Card must successfully complete the appropriate training and qualify for the basic Life Support card within 60 days of employment.
Knowledge of:
- Basic food handling techniques; common kitchen tools and utensils;
- Sanitation and general safety;
- Proper English grammar and spelling;
- Specialty diets (NDD, Consistent Carb)
Ability to:
- Maintain a clean work area and perform general cleaning tasks, such as sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning grill area, sinks and dining tables; clean kitchen tools, utensils and equipment;
- Perform service recovery
- Prepare and service simple foods;
- Read and follow a recipe;
- Follow oral and written instructions;
- Develop and perform basic math computations;
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with patients, the public and co-workers;
- Stand and walk for long periods of time;
- Push/Pull up to 20 pounds;
- Reach overhead, twist and bend frequently;
- Organize and accomplish tasks in a fast pace environment.
Skills:
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office programs.
