Kern Steel Fabrication (KSF) is looking for a Field Coordinator to support our structural steel and solar divisions. The Field Coordinator assists in managing field operations between the KSF project management team, KSF fabrication shop, customers, subcontractors, and vendors while developing critical relationships with internal and external clients. Collaborate with other departments to ensure all aspects of each project are executed smoothly.
Essential Job Functions:
Work collaboratively with project managers and coordinators for daily planning and problem solving.
Prepare and maintain 3-week look-aheads with subcontractors (subs) per project specific requirements.
Attend and/or lead on-site foreman meetings.
Review approval drawings for value engineering.
Perform job site quality control with subcontractors.
Assist in coordinating the work of subcontractors to maintain proper sequence, schedule, and quality.
Work with the project team to coordinate delivery of materials to work sites.
Plan and ensure all work performed complies with drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
Other Job Specific Duties:
Daytime travel between multiple job sites, while simultaneously managing multiple projects.
Manage all on-site sub activities including authorization of sub back charges up to approved amount and ensure subs have all necessary items to complete tasks.
Maintain NCR Log for all shop errors and coordinate with project managers for back charge association.
Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
Overnight travel required: 10-25%
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Construction management or engineering degree preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Current Driver License and driving record insurable according to company policy.
Knowledge of:
- Construction means and methods.
- AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
- OSHA compliance.
- Strumis and Trimble Connect preferred.
- AISC Code of Standard Practice a plus.
Ability to:
- Read, understand, and interpret blueprints and construction-related documents.
- Manage difficult clients and offer creative solutions to meet concerns, commitments, and requests.
- Learn industry specific software programs (PLM, Bysoft, Sigma Nest, and Artube are necessary to program all shop equipment on a daily basis).
- Complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Work independently and in a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for several hours at a time and walk in varying climate and ground conditions.
- Sit for long periods of time and drive a vehicle.
Salary : $25 - $33
