Repair and maintain various components and systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical systems. Replace or repair defective parts, components, or systems using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment. Preventive Maintenance : Conduct routine preventive maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and fluid checks, to ensure vehicles and equipment operate smoothly and efficiently. Inspect and service hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to prevent breakdowns and prolong equipment lifespan. Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving : Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to identify root causes and develop effective repair solutions. Utilize diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, and schematics to assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts. Safety and Compliance : Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. Follow manufacturer specifications and industry standards to perform repairs and maintenance tasks accurately and safely. Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including work performed, parts used, and hours worked. Collaboration and Communication : Collaborate with other team members, including mechanics, supervisors, and parts personnel, to coordinate work assignments and prioritize tasks. Communicate effectively with supervisors, customers, and other stakeholders regarding repair status, findings, and recommendations. Qualifications : High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal apprenticeship program or technical training in heavy-duty mechanics preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a heavy-duty mechanic preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Familiarity with a wide range of tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices used in the automotive / heavy-duty repair industry. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
