Where You'll Work:
At the Kerry Center in Beloit, Wisconsin, US we are the leader in taste and nutrition for the global food, beverage and pharmaceutical industry. We have approximately 700 employees at this location that perform various task such as research and development, finance, procurement, supply chain and customer care. This location is commutable from major cities such as Milwaukee, Madison, Rockford and Chicago. Through AH&N technology, Kerry develops and manufactures food and beverage shelf-life extension solutions for popular brands throughout the world. Key responsibilities:
The RD&A Intern will participate on proactive innovation projects and support scientists with completion of the projects. They’ll apply scientific principles for research and improvement of existing products. This includes application of various microbial technologies to solve customer challenges in Meat, Beverage, Meals, Pet Food, and Plant Based Products. This will be achieved by working in a lab and understanding the customer needs. You will report to the RD&A Manager and be able to participate in brainstorming and ideation.
Internship Programming:
· Internships are paid hourly.
· Day-to-day transportation to and from work is the responsibility of the intern.
· Throughout the internship, interns are encouraged to participate in events that will give exposure to leadership, provide development opportunities, and offer the ability to network with cross-functional teams across the U.S.
Qualifications:
· Currently pursuing a junior or senior undergraduate planning to attend graduate school, or a current Master's or Doctorate student.
· A degree in Food Science or a related technical science is required.
· Right to work in the U.S. No visa sponsorships.
· Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
· All candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate for this internship opportunity.
· Able to complete a 12-week or 24-week internship in the Spring/Summer/Fall.
· Ability to prioritize and manage different projects.
· Demonstrated problem solving ability.
· Strong technical skills.
Competencies:
· Hands-on, with a practical mindset.
· Responsible for daily laboratory operations.
· Must be able to work in an international and highly dynamic environment.
· Experience in biochemistry, food chemistry and analytical experience is highly sorted.
· Knowledge of food microbiology and experience and working in a BSL-1 and/or BSL-2 lab is a plus.
