Here at Kessler's, we are looking for a dedicated and energetic Deli Team Member to join our team as a Cook. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of delicious deli items, ensuring the highest quality of food and maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment. You will work closely with other team members to provide excellent customer service and ensure that all food preparation is done according to food safety and quality standards.
- Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook deli items such as hot sandwiches, soups, salads, meats, and side dishes according to established recipes and customer orders.
- Menu Execution: Ensure consistency and quality in the preparation of all deli items, maintaining the highest standards for flavor, presentation, and freshness.
- Customer Service: Assist in fulfilling customer orders quickly and accurately, ensuring a friendly and positive experience for every customer.
- Health and Safety Standards: Follow all food safety regulations, including maintaining proper food storage, cleanliness, and hygiene in the kitchen and deli area.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, and assist in re-stocking items as needed to ensure smooth operations.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, slicers, and other cooking tools.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other deli team members to maintain efficient kitchen operations, assist in prepping ingredients, and support fellow team members during busy periods.
- Sanitation: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that all workstations, tools, and kitchen equipment are sanitized and properly stored.
- Product Knowledge: Develop knowledge of deli offerings and ingredients to answer customer inquiries and assist with special requests or dietary needs.
- Catering: Assist with preparation of catering meals, setting up stations in the deli and cleaning/take-down at end-of-day.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation or cooking in a deli, restaurant, or similar setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on consistency and quality.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment.
