Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Prepares mise-en-place; sets up and clears tables in the work area.
- Maintains high standards of hygiene and orderliness.
- Provides genuine hospitality and recognition, acts as host/hostess in the work area.
- Promotes hotel services and products.
- Takes orders for, serves (where applicable, prepares) food and beverages to guests as per hotel standards in a friendly, timely and efficient manner.
- Anticipates guest needs, offers suggestions and ascertains satisfaction.
- Takes ownership of guest concerns and requests and acts decisively to ensure guest satisfaction when glitches occur.
- Describes food & beverage menu items with interesting and vivid descriptions in a concise, informative and appropriate manner.
- Is highly sensitive to guest preferences; assists in compiling guest history; offers a special service touch when an opportunity is presented.
- Requisitions supplies according to established procedures.
- Accurately posts guest checks, processes payments and adheres to related control procedures in a vigilant manner.
- Offer interesting, and vivid descriptions of each item’s origin, taste, and preparation methods.
- Communicates guest orders including any special needs or requests to the kitchen using the hotel’s point-of-sales system.
- Checks completed kitchen orders with the guest’s original order.
- Anticipates guest needs to ascertain satisfaction and responds urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 1 year of food service experience. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
- Fine dining experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food & beverage.
- Must possess a high degree of product knowledge and relevant technical skills. Keeps abreast of events in the hotel.
- Strong ability to multi-task and observe entire dining room.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts as will involve days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Strong time management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize.
- Strong commitment to service.
- Exemplary English language skills.
- TIPS Certification.
- Certified in CPR, First Aid AED.
- Must be able to go up and down staircase as well as stoop and bend.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
