Come intern for Kentucky Educational Television, (KET), one of the largest and most respected statewide public broadcasting networks in the nation.
The Public Affairs Marketing and Digital Media Internship (O. Leonard Press Public Affairs Internship) offers motivated college students an exceptional opportunity to gain skills and practical work experience in digital media and marketing and communications. Students will work closely with KET professionals in the promotion of public affairs programs and content.
This paid internship includes an hourly wage plus the opportunity to earn two stipends during the semester for achieving certain performance markers.
OPPORTUNITIES:
Marketing and Communications interns will assist in promoting programs like Comment on Kentucky, Kentucky Tonight, and Kentucky Edition and gain experience:
- Clipping out individual stories from public affairs programs to use in digital promotions
- Uploading video, caption, and thumbnail files to the KET website.
- Re-editing public affairs stories into shortform videos for YouTube, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels and other social media platforms.
- Assisting with on-air promotion production.
- Students must be currently pursuing a degree in a related field at the time of application and during the internship.
- Students must have completed at least 24 academic credit hours or equivalent and be in good academic standing.
- Students must have strong computer, writing and communication skills with course work and or interest in Public Media and Marketing and Communications. Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro is preferred.
- Students must commit to at least 120 hours during one semester and have the flexibility to work evening hours.
- This internship may require job-related travel including overnight stays; sitting and/or standing/walking for long periods; handling of average-weight objects up to 50lbs.
