Job Purpose
The Collections Specialist is responsible for collecting outstanding debts, communicating with delinquent customers, and resolving disputes. This role requires strong communication skills, confidence on the phone, and ability to work in a metrics-driven environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead collection activities for assigned regions, ensuring timely payment from past-due accounts.
- Making outbound collection calls, taking incoming calls, and following up on past-due balances.
- Negotiating customer settlement offers, processing payments, and ensuring obligations are satisfied.
- Providing customer service, processing refunds, and resolving account discrepancies.
- Collaborating with internal teams and external customers to resolve delinquent account issues.
- Processing credit card payments, monitoring errors, and allocating payments to accounts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a Collection Specialist or similar role, preferably in a senior or leadership capacity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a high degree of self-motivation and self-direction.
Work Conditions/Physical Requirements
We offer a hybrid home/office environment with moderate noise levels. Ability to work after normal business hours as needed is required.
