Summary:
Responsible for engineering support for existing and new plastic injection tooling for the Garden Furniture Business Unit in Keter's Portersville / Adams Manufacturing facility. The position will support manufacturing operations related to preventative maintenance, repairs, root cause problem solving, and technical skill development of the tool room. In addition, the position will support new product development relative to plastic part and tooling design from design conception through production. The role will lead and participate in cross-functional continuous improvement and NPD projects with the Engineering and Operations teams.

The position will support manufacturing operations related to preventative maintenance, repairs, root cause problem solving, and technical skill development of the tool room. In addition, the position will support new product development relative to plastic part and tooling design from design conception through production. The role will lead and participate in cross-functional continuous improvement and NPD projects with the Engineering and Operations teams.
In This Role, You’ll Have The Opportunity To
- Develop and coordinate preventative maintenance program for all injection tooling. Programs include daily, weekly, and annual maintenance executed by the operation’s tool room and external tooling vendors.
- Manage tooling repairs within the operation and at external tool vendors through timelines, status updates and vendor visits as required.
- Maintains project and tooling budgets.
- Collaborate with the Operation to improve key metrics centered around OEE and quality performance relative to tooling and part designs.
- Develop ECN system and champion ECN process for part and mold design changes with a release to operations for all related ECNs in manufacturing including assembly methods and BOM changes.
- Drive root cause solutions to improve safety, quality, mold change and processing as they relate to tool designs.
- Manage NPD tooling projects from product conception into and through production.
- Drive cross-functional part design reviews prior to mold kick-off.
- Manage mold vendor timelines through design reviews, vendor visits, and required mold trials prior to launch.
- Support operations through launch and into production as need to drive to key metrics.
- Identify knowledge gaps in the tool room and provide training and coaching roadmap to further develop the team.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional continuous improvement projects including DFMEA, PFMEA, Root Cause Analysis, 5S, etc.
What You Need To Succeed:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks
- Competent in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc.)
- Project and timeline management skills
- Root cause problem solving skills
- Working knowledge of typical tooling equipment including CNC, EDM, grinding, manual mill, lathe, etc.
- Minimum of a high school diploma; Bachelor degree is preferred
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in injection mold NPD, mold design and build, or injection manufacturing tool room management.
- Vendor communication experience
- Journeyman Tool Maker or Journeyman Moldmaker preferred, but not required.
