Description
Kett Engineering is seeking experienced Diesel Mechanics to work with our customer working on prototype vehicles in Elmendorf, TX.
Job Duties:
- Incumbent with work hands-on constructing or modifying prototype vehicles. Perform repairs, modifications, and diagnostics on Medium duty trucks, Buses, and Heavy duty trucks. Powertrains may include Diesel; electric vehicles and alternative fuels.
- Scope may include assemble, disassemble, inspect, repair and install components on vehicles - including engines and powertrain. Either modify existing vehicles, or build units from ground up
- Work may include all vehicle components or systems including engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, electrical, HVAC, cooling, interiors, cabs, frames, etc.
- Work will require following prints, sketches, or written or verbal assembly instructions. Leverage mechanical skills and training to complete assigned tasks.
- Activities may include drilling, cutting, machining and grinding working from prints, sketches, written or verbal instructions.
- Start and maintain necessary documentation, records, and information
- Provide detailed feedback as appropriate during prototype activities
Basic Requirements:
- Associates degree
- At least 3 years of technical truck/automotive experience OR at least 5 years of Class 4-8 Truck Experience
Desired Skills:
- Previous mechanic experience involving truck and engine assembly, repair, and fabrication. Strong mechanical aptitude
- Vehicle experience that includes some of the following: commercial vehicles, off-highway vehicles, agriculture vehicles, and/or passenger vehicles.
- Alternative fuels, including EV (electric vehicles), and/or Propane
- Experience with Cummins/Allison/Eaton/Duramax
- Training/Education as a Truck mechanic, as a Diesel Engine mechanic
- Welding fabrication with Tig, Mig, Stick, Oxy-Acetylene Welding skills & plasma cutting
- Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics; knowledge of multimeter and/or module programming
- Prior dealership or fleet service experience
- ASE Certifications
- Journeyman Card
- CDL with medical card and P-endorsement
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint
