Responsibilities & Requirements
The Periop Materials Specialist Sterile Processing position, is responsible for ordering, procurement, disposal, and tracking of implantable items. This includes reviewing patient accounts to ensure that all implantables are appropriately charged and ensuring that all regulatory requirements for tissue tracking are met. Also responsible for management of the SHIMP inventory location including materials management functions of requisitioning, stocking, issuing,management of inventory outdates and ensuring adequate stock levels to meet the needs of surgery.
Essential Functions:
- Follow up on all patient accounts with implantable expenses to ensure patients are appropriately charged.
- Participate in cost savings initiatives and assist in the identification of cost-savings opportunities.
- Provide backup support for surgery purchasing agent to ensure the purchasing needs of the department aremet.
- Order all custom supplies necessary for cases, encouraging use of catalog items.
- Submit new product paperwork, as necessary, to add non-catalog items into the system.
- Document and track the order, receipt and disposal of all tissue items according to HFAP guidelines.
- Remain current with surgical cases scheduled to ensure the appropriate tissue, implants and non-standardsupplies are ordered.
- Support KHNs and HFAP Corporate Integrity and Compliance programs to ensure adherence to allgovernmental rules and regulations.
- Manage time effectively, prioritizing multiple demands to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Assist department by acting as liaison/technical advisor (as necessary) between Patient Services and thefollowing entities: IS, BMET, and computer/software vendors.
- Very detail orientated and able to review work for accuracy and completeness.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Ideally, 3 or more years experience in Materials Management, Processing, or surgical environment
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Strong goal orientation with desire to improve performance and outcomes.
- Strong communication skills.
