Responsibilities & Requirements

Job SummaryThe Radiology Supervisor has multiple responsibilities. He/she provides radiology services by directing and coordinating the services of radiology and diagnostic imaging procedures; overseeing staff in operation of imaging equipment, such, as x-ray machines, fluoroscopes, computerized tomography (CT) scanners, sonography or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment. Accomplishes radiology human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures. Supports patient care by resolving radiology issues with physicians, radiologists, radiology technologists, and ancillary staff; improving and maintaining quality assurance program for department functions. Provides a safe environment by monitoring radioactive exposure and/or MRI and Ultrasound safety of staff and patients; keeping staff and patients safe. Serves and protects the hospital community by ensuring adherence to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP).

Job RequirementsMinimum EducationGraduation from an accredited Radiology program from an accredited college or university. AS required, BS preferred.

Required Licenses[Ohio, United States] Radiologic Technologist and TechnicianCurrent registry with the ARRT, Ohio State Licensure.

Minimum Work ExperienceTwo to five years of radiographic experience is preferred.Two years experience in modality of responsibility preferred.Two years of supervisory experience preferred.

Required SkillsCurrent Basic Life Support certification.

Essential FunctionsMaintains sufficient staff coverage all shifts/all modalities. Maintains productivity to the minimum of target. Seeks action plans if/when productivity needs adjusted. Assists with imaging procedures and/or transportation when needed.Proactive concerning patient satisfaction. Encourages/coaches others to improve satisfaction. Utilizes Service Recovery when needed.Ensures a smooth operation of daily workflow. Uses appropriate words/actions to help others envision and move toward higher levels of performance. Resolves operation issues in a timely manner.Follow's RACQ initiative. Counsels employees regarding standards of behavior, performance and other job related matters in a timely fashion.Educates staff concerning department KRA's and goals. Displays willingness to improve job functions by improving existing conditions and processes, using appropriate methods to identify opportunities, implement solutions and measure impact.Performs payroll functions, ESL conversations, annual employee evaluations.Maintains adequate levels of supplies, aware of financial impact. Aware of budget standings on monthly, YTD basis.Serves as a role model and preceptor for students and new employees. Completes competency assessments in a timely manner. Identifies opportunities for improvement, creates plan of action and documents their progress. Communicates with their clinical instructor.Ensures areas of responsibility are clean and stocked and all supplies expiration dates are checked for outdated materials. Delegates staff to utilize downtime to accomplish tasks. Promotes and monitors staff for compliance with infection control policies and safe practices.Ensures and promotes adherence to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP).Organizational Expectations
