Preferred Qualifications
Three or more years of experience in a college counseling setting. Experience working with students with disabilities, including ASD.
Job Specific Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in a mental health discipline (counseling, social work, psychology). Current licensure in the State of Michigan with a mental health specialty (LPC, LMFT, MSW, LCP, etc.). Extensive knowledge of human behavior theories and modalities; student development theories and experience working with college-aged students. Training and experience with diverse populations. Familiarity with electronic medical records and scheduling systems.

Duties
Provide limited individual and/or group counseling to students to address personal, academic, and career concerns, engage in crisis intervention to address mental health emergencies, and maintain appropriate documentation. Aid students in determining long-term mental health support. Crisis management for campus when mental health crisis arises.

Develops and updates knowledge of professional policies associated with the consultation process. Maintains current knowledge of local resources and seek assistance in understanding other resources that could benefit students.

Provide programming for students, faculty, and staff to inform them on mental health care, support students in managing personal challenges, work with students with disabilities, etc. Develop and execute programming for campus community on mental health awareness, advocacy and wellness.

Provide support to students seeking accommodations for their academic and personal success. Knowledge of the ADA and how to interpret official documentation to ensure that proper accommodations are provided to students in need.
