Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-consciousPart Finishing Technicianto perform surface treatment and finishing operations on precision steel components used in medical devices. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical and chemical surface treatments and take pride in delivering consistently high-quality finishes in a regulated and controlled environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform surface finishing operations including deburring, polishing, and cleaning of precision-machined steel parts.
- Use hand tools, to achieve desired surface characteristics and finishes.
- Operate within strict medical device manufacturing standards (ISO 13485, FDA, etc.) to ensure part integrity, cleanliness, and compliance.
- Inspect parts visually and dimensionally for surface quality and defects using appropriate measuring tools (e.g., microscopes, calipers, profilometers).
- Maintain accurate documentation of finishing processes, inspection results, and batch records.
- Collaborate with machinists, quality inspectors, and engineers to resolve surface issues and optimize finishing techniques.
- Maintain equipment and work area in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts and process documentation updates.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in part finishing, preferably in a machine shop or medical device manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with surface treatment techniques for stainless steel and other medical-grade alloys.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and quality orientation.
- Good manual dexterity and ability to work with small parts.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.
- Use of fine motor skills for detailed finishing work.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment including gloves, eye protection.
