Description
Keuka College is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Coach to lead and manage our competitive cheerleading program. The Head Coach will be responsible for all aspects of the program, including recruiting, routine and practice planning, scheduling, and overall team management. The role will involve ensuring compliance with department policies and safety, as well as fostering a positive and competitive team culture. The Head Coach will also support fundraising, sideline cheer at home basketball games, and other select on-campus events. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, along with a commitment to the academic and athletic success of student athletes.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop a competitive program consistent with the athletic department vision.
- Support recruitment of prospective cheerleaders.
- Schedule and conduct regular practice sessions; manage tryout process for team and competition selection.
- Work with department staff to create a competition schedule and on-campus appearances/performances.
- Effectively teach individual skills, team concepts, and competitive values; plan and execute practice, conditioning, strength session, and performance routines.
- Ensure safety through careful monitoring of the condition of equipment and facilities utilized by the team.
- Advise department staff on ordering equipment, supplies, and arranging team travel.
- Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship, and mature conduct as the head coach of the program.
- Support annual fundraising and alumni outreach in collaboration with department staff.
- Work with and communicate with trainers, sports information staff, and anyone else to help facilitate team needs.
- Obtain certification from USA Cheer Safety.
- Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
- Perform other functions as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional lifting of boxes, supplies, etc., generally less than 30 lbs.
- Some evening and weekend hours are required.

- Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to be sensitive to and respond to the needs and concerns of all constituents of the College including but not limited to students, faculty, college staff and the public.
