Description
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide ASL-English interpreting during out-of-classroom discussions, conversations,
events, and other spoken word situations using American Sign Language (ASL) for
Keuka College students identifying as Deaf or hard of hearing.
2. Coordinate with the Office of Student Accessibility (OSA) to schedule on-call coverage
during which a student in need of interpreting could request interpreting services within a
reasonable time frame.
3. Work effectively in teams with other student ASL interpreters.
Requirements
Ability to:
Accurately interpret spoken English to ASL and interpret ASL to English in social settings and
student activities. The student ASL interpreter position is available only to ASL/Interpreting
students at the college recommended by instructors in the ASL-English Interpreting Program.
Special Requirements:
Must be skilled in ASL-English interpreting; may be required to sign for extended periods of
time, and under various environmental conditions.
