Student Assistive Technology Assistant

Summary:
Assist individuals with disabilities by providing education and consultation regarding identified
assistive technological tools as recommended by the Office of Student Accessibility staff. This
individual will maintain current knowledge of available assistive technology offered through
Keuka College and will work to identify free assistive technology tools outside of those offered
through the institution.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate proficiency with assistive technology tools provided to individuals with disabilities through Keuka College, including, but not limited to, Read & Write software, Smart Pen, and C-Pen.
- Maintain current, up to date knowledge of free and available assistive technology resources outside of what is offered through Keuka College.
- Provide education and consulting to individuals with disabilities who may benefit from assistive technology as determined by the Office of Student Accessibility (OSA) staff on an as needed basis.
- Maintain an organized, updated calendar and keep the OSA informed of any last-minute schedule changes that could impact the individual’s ability to meet with students.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the use of assistive technology on a variety of different platforms (ex: Apple products vs Samsung products, tablets vs laptops, etc.)
- Facilitate campus integration and access to campus resources.
- Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
- Attend provided/necessary training and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
- Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision, and values and adhering to institutional policies.
- Maintain a high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
- Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
- Perform other functions as assigned by management.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Keuka College student in the on-campus traditional undergraduate program.
- Must maintain confidentiality at all times is required.
- Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or better is preferred.
- Individuals with Field Period/internship or other experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
- Prior office experience preferred.
- Good typing skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
- Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional evening and weekend hours required.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
