Cost Estimator Overview:
Keville Enterprises, Inc., a growing Construction Management Consulting and Inspection firm, is looking for a full time Project Cost Estimator in Herndon, VA. The primary focus of this position will be to develop independent cost estimates during different phases of project design, change order activities, and claims. The Cost Estimator will have a minimum of 3 years of construction experience directly related to construction activities (estimating, field work, etc.).

Cost Estimator Duties and responsibilities:
Estimator will need to develop detailed bottoms up capital cost estimates for projects, and review capital cost estimates developed by others. The applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively with the client, project managers, other project consultants and senior level management. Provide coordination and liaison with construction field personnel, project management and project engineering personnel throughout the estimate development. Reviews estimates for adequacy, uniformity and completeness. Obtains vendor quotes, and other local pricing information. Develops labor costs based upon crew sizes, local labor rates and production rates for activities that are impacted by maintenance of traffic, construction phasing, weather, proximity to an operating railway and other adjacent construction activities by recognizing that these factors may reduce production rates. Reviews contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes. Prepares material take-offs and reviews take-offs of others from planning documents or engineering drawings. Prepares conceptual and comparative cost study estimates from preliminary sketches. Prepares quantity takeoffs to support construction cost estimates for all disciplines. Prepare detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems. Accumulates, evaluates and documents historical cost data for the development of future estimates. Local candidates with VDOT, DDOT, MD SHA experience are preferred (no relocation package available).
Cost Estimator Qualifications:
A minimum of three years of civil estimating experience directly related to construction activities are required. Experience on transit, transportation, aviation, and water/waste water projects is preferred.
A minimum of one year of field experience is required.
Experience in Microsoft Office products with a high proficiency in MS Excel is required.
Estimating experience in heavy civil construction projects and/or experience in estimating electrical and mechanical components of projects is preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Architecture, or related field strongly preferred.
AACE certification is a plus.
Experience with Sage Estimating Software is highly desirable.
