The Kevin O’Grady School is a substantially separate public day school educating over 100 students with severe special needs. The school has a strong multidisciplinary team model.
Position Summary:
Paraprofessional/Instructional Assistant to support students in a Foundations classroom. Individual needed to support students with autism, development delays and behavioral challenges. Programming focuses on functional academics, adaptive behavior, activities of daily living, and social emotional skills. Seeking candidates with experience in managing challenging behaviors. Assist professional staff with all aspects of program management including classroom, student support and provision of therapy services. Student ages are 6- 10.
Instructional Assistants assist professional staff with all aspects of program management including classroom, student support and provision of therapy services.
Specific Duties: Work with a classroom teacher in an academic support role. Collaborate with professional staff to ensure the safety of the students in all environments. Instructional Assistants may be required to assist students with toileting and diapering. This position also requires assistance with mealtimes, hygiene including changing, and physically assisting students in the classroom (positioning students, assisting with orthotics, etc.). Modify materials based on student needs. Participate in training in relevant areas. Please see specific job descriptions for complete details.
Qualifications: Experience working with students with Special Needs strongly preferred.
Education/Training/Experience: Prior experience working in a school setting preferred.
