The Kevin O’Grady School is a substantially separate public day school educating over 100 students with severe special needs. The school has a strong multidisciplinary team model.
This is a Special Education Teacher position for the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
Position Summary: This is a Target classroom at KOG.
Target provides intensive services for adolescents and young adults who are on the autism spectrum or have intellectual impairments. Students focus on the academic, communication, social/emotional, self-help, pre-vocational, vocational and life skills needed for them to become active members of the community. Students begin by practicing skills within our structured, in-house vocational centers including: Training Center, Recycle, Supply & Delivery, Clerical, and Prime Products.
Student Needs:
* 1:1 support for learning new tasks
* Toileting needs
* Behavioral support
* Rote instruction
* individual schedules
The classroom Teacher is responsible for all aspects of classroom management: curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Meets the needs of unique learners in the classroom through provision of accommodations, modifications and collaboration with related therapists.
Specific Duties: Practices differentiated instruction to meet the unique needs of students. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and ensures the success and safety of the students. Collaborates routinely with related service providers. Qualifications: Excellent teamwork, communication and organization skills needed.
Education/Training/Experience: DESE certification and certification for Special Education required. Experience working with students with autism and challenging behaviors strongly preferred.
