An Athens based Construction/Development Company seeks an experienced individual to serve as Controller. This person will oversee the accounting and financial aspects as well as add value to the overall success of the company. We are looking for a highly qualified and expert finance professional who is passionate about providing high quality ‘right the first time’ financial reports and business performance insight that provides the President with the knowledge and insight to make informed decisions. The Controller position reports directly to the President and Owner of the company. The applicant must be well organized, motivated, a self-starter and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This person should be able to lead and manage the accounting staff. The salary and benefits are commensurate for the position’s roles and responsibilities. Please provide references.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s in Business, Accounting or Finance required
· 5 years of progressive growth in financial roles with a minimum of 3 years of finance leadership experience preferred.
Skills & Experience:
· A thorough understanding of finance fundamentals.
· Understanding of accounting fundamentals and how day to day accounting decisions will impact tax obligations and financial reporting.
· Ability to analyze job cost reports to assist owner in profitability forecast.
· High attention to detail and impeccable integrity.
· Collaborative partner with the ability to provide sound financial advice to company leadership.
· Proven team leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor and upskill staff.
· Construction or Real Estate Accounting experience is a plus.
Role & Responsibilities:
· Lead and oversee all accounting activities including managing the general ledgers, monitoring expenses, performing cash flow analysis, and preparing management reports and monthly/quarterly financial statements
· Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports for the President of the company and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
· Manage accounts payable, accruals, budgets, cash flows and corporate credit cards.
· Reconcile bank accounts.
· Provide monthly “dash-board” report that provides clear understanding of the company’s current financial position and future projections of the financials.
· Develop and implement policies and procedures as required to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure.
· Partner with external auditor to review financial statements and prepare tax returns.
· Oversee annual renewal of insurance portfolio and employee benefit programs.
· Other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned to meet business needs.
