Want to be an integral part of the criminal justice system and be challenged by your work? Then this combined Radio Operator and Jailer position is for you. Officers alternate days of jailing and dispatching. It’s a challenging job with a ton of variety including something different every day. Duties include answering 911 lines and local calls for service, dispatching appropriate emergency responders to calls, dispatching police, and responding to radio requests from officers. Alternate days are spent maintaining and conducting the general operation of our 22-bed jail.
We have great benefits and pay. One of our best features is our schedule which gives officers every other weekend off, making it a 4-day weekend! The schedule is made out a year in advance so you can plan vacations and time off.

High School diploma is all that is required. Must be organized and have the ability to prioritize things that need to be done with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Typing skills, the ability to pick up computer programs quickly, and a knowledge of roads will help you succeed.
Officers work 40 hours one week and 36 hours the opposite week with five 8-hour shifts and three 12-hour shifts. Which days the 8 or 12-hour shifts fall on depends on staffing. Half of the officers have every Monday and Tuesday off and the other half have every Thursday and Friday off so every other week the officers have a four-day weekend. ****This is a great schedule for time off, especially with the four-day weekend every other week!

Must be a U.S. citizen; High School graduate, at least 18 years of age; valid driver’s license; no felony convictions; good verbal and written communication skills; able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Jail certified applicants preferred.
Applicants will be tested to determine qualifications. Must also pass a medical & physical exam, psychological exam and background check.
